
Ingredients:
- 1 & 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp soda
- 1 tsp cream of tarter
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup softened butter or margarine
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp vanilla
In large bowl, combine ingredients on low speed of mixer about 1 minute; blend well.
- 2 & 1/4 cups unbleached or all purpose flour
Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Gradually add flour; blend at los speed until well mixed. If desired, tint dough with a few drops of food coloring.
- Colored sugar
Chill dough about 15 to 30 minutes before shaping. Shape dough into 3/4 inch balls; place on greased cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten balls with fork; sprinkle with colored sugars.
Bake at 350 degrees for 5 to 8 minutes until set but not brown. Let cookies stand on cookie sheet about 1 minute. Cool on racks. Store loosely covered.
